14:45 meeting room open, coffee
15:00 start
Results of the DEMANES project will be presented and demonstrated.
The goal of DEMANES is to provide methods and tools for the development of runtime adaptive systems, making them capable of reacting to changes in themselves, in their environment (battery state, availability and throughput of the network connection, availability of external services, etc.) and in user needs (requirements).- Maarten Brock - Van Mierlo Ingenieursbureau
Adaptivity in MyriaNed, reference to energy consumption - Joost van Velzen – Salland Electronics
Architecture and opportunities for adaptive middleware on wireless networks. - Freek van Polen – Sense Observation Systems
Adaptive sensor data processing in a hybrid cloud / smartphone environment. - All - Life demo of adaptive lighting control system
incl. Henk van Kampen – real-time sniffing
Indoor office lighting which adapts to user presence, making use of smart chair, smart phones, smart bike.
Including real-time sniffing of the networks activity.
17:00 + Informal part with drinks and a byte

Wed30Sep20151:00 pmChess Wise, Richard Holkade 8a, Haarlem
On The DevLab Café of September will be a bigger event than usual. In collaboration with Chess Wise, one of the founding member companies of DevLab, we will organize a congress called Wise '15. The congress will focus on the projects currently in progress within DevLab, addressing crowd monitoring and control with large distributed systems and self-healing properties of complex systems.
Of course the DevLab member companies also play a role, with some real life demonstrations.
The last part of the congress will be dedicated to Frits van der Wateren, who retired recently, but without stopping his activities within Chess Wise. For many years, Frits has been and still is playing a very important role into the new technology developments in most of the DevLab projects.
NB: second part of the Congress will be in Dutch
Program
13:00 – Start Wise '15
13:30 - DevLab projects- Maarten van Steen (professor @ UTwente, former VU)
Extreme Wireless Distributed Systems for crowd monitoring - Johan Lukkien (professor @ TU/e)
Healing or Dealing - self healing properties in networked systems

Program:
Overview progress Atalanta project – Hans Goosen, assistant professor @ TUD
This overview aims to discuss the different aspects and challenges in the Atalanta project and to demonstrate the progress that has been made over the last couple of years.Control of Resonant Compliant Systems (CRCS) - Hugo Peters, phd student @ TUD
The Atalanta Flapping Wing Micro Air Vehicle is a compliant system that needs control for practical usage. During a 4-year PhD project, we studied the controllability of this type of resonating systems. An overview of this study will be given which stresses the challenges, achievements and recommendations for future work.First experimental validation – Caspar Banis, master student @ TUD
In the CRCS project, a theoretical framework is developed to modify resonance responses using carefully selected structural property changes (e.g., changes in stiffness). This work shows a first experimental validation of this framework using a relatively simple cantilever beam.Experimental setup to measure loads on a flapping wing – Hans Goosen, assistant professor @ TUD
Despite all experimental work that has been done within the flapping wing community, nobody has been able to accurately measure all details of the small aerodynamic loads acting on the flapping wing. A scientifically very interesting experimental setup has been developed by DevLab companies and Delft University of Technology to accurately measure these loads.Technical details experimental setup – Frank Heukels, designer/engineer @ KITT Engineering
Measuring the transient loads on a flapping wing is challenging due to the small scales, high frequencies, high flap angles and marginal aerodynamic loads. This talk aims to discuss the technical details of the measurement setup.Collaboration between DevLab and TUD – Fred van Keulen, professor @ TUD
The collaboration between DevLab and TUD started around 2005 with the definition of the Atalanta project. This lead to many scientific, practical and educational results. With the definition of future projects this collaboration will remain fruitful.Closing with drinks

Brainport Development is organizing the TCI Global Conference 2016 in the Netherlands. TCI is the leading global network of cluster organizations and was founded in 1998. The TCI Global Conference is a yearly event with this years theme: "Global Changes, challenges for cluster organizations". Many clusters are connected to Brainport to participate in the setup of the conference such as the High Tech Software cluster, Brainport Industries, LifeTec Zone, HealthValley, Brightlands, FoodValley, AutomotiveNL, Grow Campus and FoodTech Brainport and of course also DevLab.
Save the date: November 8-10, 2016 in Eindhoven
